FAQ
What is the maximum speed of the Python®?
It can travel up to 50 mph (80km/h).
How much compaction does the roller apply to the asphalt?
It applies a force of approximately 62 lbs/linear inch or 11 kg/linear cm. That’s the same amount of compaction as a one-ton roller. The back-and-forth motion of the roller forces the asphalt into every crevice of the pothole, making the compaction even more complete.
How much air pressure is being used to clean out the potholes?
The air compressor delivers up to 26 cubic feet per minute at 120 psi. The air blast it delivers is more than enough to clean water, rocks, dirt, and debris from the pothole.
Can I use the compressed air for anything else?
Yes, there is an auxiliary airport for cleaning the machine and filling tires.
How do I clean the Python® 5000 / Python® 5000+ at the end of the day?
It comes complete with a 15-gallon tank, which can hold an environmentally friendly chemical you can use to hose down the hopper, belt and tool assembly at the end of the day. It takes about 20 minutes to clean the unit so that it’s ready to go the next day.
Does the auger get plugged with asphalt?
The heavy-duty auger runs the length of the machine and isn’t very susceptible to plugging. Should that happen, however, the auger is reversible which allows you to easily clear any plugs.
How do you control the temperature of the asphalt in the hopper?
The asphalt is kept warm by routing exhaust around the double-walled hopper. The temperature is controlled by a flapper valve that opens and closes to let exhaust enter or exit through the exhaust system.
How comfortable is the cab for long hours on the job?
The climate-controlled cab is very comfortable. It is sealed with a cab air filter and a HEPA filter inside to keep out dust. The control panel moves up and down with the operator’s air ride seat for ease of operation.
